Established in 1952 by Julian Wicks, Gordon Mosher, and Robert Grover the airport plans initially called for north/south and east/west runways. The initial investment of the project was approximately $10,000. Julian and Joyce Wicks became sole owners in the late 60’s. Up through the mid-70’s the airport was very active with recreational and business flying, aircraft maintenance, parachute clubs and radio-controlled model flying. After Wicks’ death in 1975 the airport activity decreased substantially. Oversight of the airport at that time was taken over by Robert Underwood, with ownership remaining with the Wicks family. |
